| Who we are
Beyond Subsistence Inc. is a non-profit Christian organisation established to specifically provide forestry and agroforestry support to aid organisations operating in third world countries or among people groups living in poverty.
Incorporated in 2010, Beyond Subsistence has Deductible Gift Recipient status with the Australian Tax Office. Beyond Subsistence was founded by professional forester Jon Lambert in December 2008 and is an affiliate of the Australian forestry organisation Heartwood Plantations.
What we do
Beyond Subsistence provides support for forestry and agroforestry projects in third world countries using volunteer professional forest and agricultural scientists. Working primarily in partnerships with existing aid organizations in the country of need, Beyond Subsistence can provide the following:
- Training;
- Research;
- Practical assistance;
- Due diligence;
- Advice;
- Project design; and in special circumstances
- Fund raising for forestry equipment and/or materials.
This assistance may take the form of:
- Short-term placement of appropriately skilled staff;
- Design and/or implementation of research trials;
- Purchase of specialist equipment for improving forestry activities (e.g.portable sawmill or nursery equipment);
- Implementing a forestry or agroforestry project;
- Applying for grants that may be relevant to specific projects; and
- Providing specialist advice in a particular area of forestry.
