To qualify for assistance from Beyond Subsistence, projects need to be:

• Projects must be specific to forestry or agroforestry in a third world country or among people living in poverty;
• Projects must be currently being supported by an existing reputable aid organization; and
• Project locations must be safe for foreigners to visit (if a visit is requested) and must have appropriate support (medical, language, cultural, housing, travel, etc) to achieve the needs identified.
