Kununurra, Western Australia

As part of Beyond Subsistence’s work in sub-Saharan Africa, trials of several Australian desert acacia species have been established in Kununurra, Western Australia. These trials have been located in a sub tropical climate similar to that found in central west Africa and replicate existing trials established in Niger in 2008. These trials have created a valuable local plantation resource which will provide information on growth rates, genetics, seed production and timber properties. The Kununurra acacia trials have been established in partnership with HCJB Global.
